Multiple Projects Led by the SCE Win 2025 CHTS Science and Technology Awards

On December 1, the 2025 Awards Ceremony for the Science and Technology Awards of the Chinese Highway and Transportation Society (CHTS) was held in Xiamen. Projects led by the School of Civil Engineering, Southeast University received one First Prize of the Technological Invention Award, one First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award, and two Second Prizes of the Science and Technology Progress Award.

The project “Energy-Absorbing Anti-Collision Device Using Origami-Inspired Aluminum Honeycomb Structures for Bridges,” led by Prof. Cai Jianguo, won the First Prize of the Technological Invention Award. The project “Key Technologies and Applications for Lightweight, Ultra-High-Performance Concrete Bridges,” led by Prof. Cheng Zhao, received the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, Prof. Zhang Wenming led the project “Theories, Methods, and Key Technologies for Precise and Efficient Forming and Intelligent Collaborative Wind-Resistance of Long-Span Cable-Supported Bridges,” and Prof. Xin Haohui led “Key Technologies for High-Performance GFRP Composite Profiles for Bridges and Their Hybrid Structural Systems,” both of which won the Second Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award.

Established in 2002, the CHTS Science and Technology Awards are among the most prestigious and influential awards in China’s highway and transportation sector, and CHTS is recognized as one of the important nominating bodies for the National Science and Technology Awards. It is reported that the 2025 awards honored 155 Science and Technology Progress Award projects (7 Grand Prizes, 37 First Prizes, 85 Second Prizes, and 26 Third Prizes), 8 Technological Invention Award projects (4 First Prizes, 3 Second Prizes, and 1 Third Prize), 15 Young Scientist Awards, and 5 Innovation Team Awards through evaluation, public notification, and final approval procedures.
