Professor Qin Ying Receives Letter of Appreciation from Chinese Consulate-General in Christchurch for Contributions to China-New Zealand Friendship Visit

On December 2, 2025, Southeast University received a letter of appreciation from the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Christchurch, which highly praised Professor Qin Ying, a visiting scholar of the School of Civil Engineering, Southeast University, for his outstanding performance in participating in the reception work for Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, during his visit to New Zealand.

From November 19 to 22, 2025, at the invitation of New Zealand Parliament Speaker Brownlee, Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), paid an official friendly visit to New Zealand. This visit marked the first visit by an NPC Standing Committee Chairman to New Zealand in 20 years and was a significant diplomatic activity as the China-New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership entered its second decade, encompassing high-level talks, cultural exchanges, and economic and trade cooperation. During his visit, Chairman Zhao Leji attended the unveiling ceremony of the Rewi Alley Memorial Hall in Christchurch and visited a local family farm, promoting friendly relations and pragmatic cooperation between the two peoples.

As a visiting scholar sent to New Zealand by the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University, Professor Qin Ying volunteered to assist with reception duties during Chairman Zhao Leji's visit to Christchurch. With a high sense of responsibility and professional competence, he assisted in ensuring the smooth running of the event, demonstrating the sense of mission and responsibility of Southeast University teachers to serve the overall national diplomatic situation and the patriotism of educators in the new era.
