In recent years, with the continuous increase in traffic volume, the Zhenjiang South to Dantu Interchange section of the Yangli Expressway has become a high-incidence point for traffic congestion and is prone to rear-end collisions and other traffic accidents. To solve the traffic problem, Jiangsu Traffic Control has implemented a full-closure reconstruction and expansion project on this section to improve the traffic capacity of the main artery and provide stronger transportation support into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

On November 8, 2025, with the lifting of all traffic control measures, both directions of the G4011 Yangli Expressway from Zhenjiang South to Dantu Interchange were fully reopened to traffic, marking the successful completion ahead of schedule of a key milestone in the Yangli Expressway reconstruction and expansion project. From the commencement of construction on April 11, 2025, to the opening of the main line, the project took only 211 days, setting a new record for the construction speed of expressway reconstruction and expansion projects in Jiangsu Province.

In the widening and expansion project of the main bridge, Professor Pan Jinlong's team from the School of Civil Engineering, Southeast University played a key role in tackling critical technologies. Through new material development, construction plan optimization, and intelligent monitoring and evaluation throughout the construction and service process, they significantly shortened the settling period required before widening the cast-in-place box girder bridge from the original 180 days to 62 days, greatly reducing the economic losses and social impact caused by traffic closures. Professor Pan Jinlong's team from Southeast University, in collaboration with participating units, adhered to the principles of technological empowerment and collaborative research, successfully transforming new technologies and methods from the laboratory into systematic solutions that can be replicated and promoted on the construction site. This demonstrates the university's commitment to supporting national development and serves major national strategies such as "Building a Strong Transportation Nation."
