On the morning of November 25, Academician Yonggang Huang, foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician of the American Academy of Sciences, academician of the American Academy of Engineering, named chair professor of Northwestern University, and solid mechanics, was invited to visit Southeast University and gave a wonderful academic report entitled "Relationship between human arterial blood pressure and pulse wave velocity" in Runliang Auditorium of Jiulonghu Campus. Liu Pan, executive deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, and Dean Guo Tong of the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University attended the lecture, and more than 600 teachers and students from the whole university listened to the lecture. The lecture was hosted by Liu Pan.
On behalf of Southeast University, Liu Pan welcomed and thanked Academician Huang Yonggang for coming to give lectures and guidance, and introduced the outstanding achievements made by Academician Huang Yonggang in the research of mechanics of stretchable electronic devices and three-dimensional manufacturing of complex structures.
In the report, Academician Huang Yonggang took human blood pressure as the starting point, and introduced the relationship between human arterial blood pressure and pulse wave velocity from the perspective of blood pressure observation and pulse wave velocity model derivation to the teachers and students present. He also told us the importance of research direction and topic selection, and not to completely believe in authority and classics.
During the exchange session, Academician Huang Yonggang enthusiastically answered questions from teachers and students. After the lecture, Liu Pan presented commemorative cultural products to Academician Huang Yonggang on behalf of Southeast University, and student representatives presented flowers to express the high respect of Southeast University teachers and students.
After the lecture, President Huang Ru met with Academician Huang Yonggang. In the afternoon, Academician Huang Yonggang held a discussion with young teachers in the School of Civil Engineering.
The lecture was hosted by the Academic Affairs Office of Southeast University, the National Cultural Quality Education Center of Southeast University, undertaken by the School of Civil Engineering, and co-organized by the Southeast University Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Graduate School of Southeast University.
