On November 18, 2024, the selection ceremony of the fifth batch of "Zijin Friendship Envoys for City Internationalization" in 2024, co-sponsored by the Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, and the Qinhuai District Government, was held at the Nanjing City Wall Museum.
Since Academician Su Zhiqiang was appointed as a distinguished professor in the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University on June 1, 2020, he and Professor Wu Gang of Southeast University co-founded and served as the co-editor-in-chief of the international journal "Urban Lifeline", which mainly publishes and disseminates papers in related fields such as safety and resilience, health and wisdom, low-carbon and durability of urban lifeline, and fills the gap in journals in this field in China and even the world. Academician Su Zhiqiang actively participated in and promoted the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University to successfully hold the first international evaluation of discipline construction, invited world-renowned universities and scholars in the field to come to Southeast University for exchange and cooperation, and made suggestions for the international development of discipline construction of the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University. At the same time, Academician Su proposed the establishment of a "3+1+1" cooperation project between the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University and the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, to promote bilateral joint research, and to jointly train doctoral students with Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore, so as to make outstanding contributions to the development of the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University.
In addition, Academician Su Zhiqiang was hired by the Zhongjiang Academician Expert Workstation of Dongda University, as one of the earliest experts in the world to study the intelligent monitoring of concrete materials, Academician Su will cooperate with Zhongjiang Digital Construction Company and carry out landing tests, cultivate and reserve more scientific and technological talents through the cooperation form of the academician workstation, cultivate scientific and technological talents for Jiangsu and even the whole of China, solve the problem of stuck necks, carry out application innovation, and achieve zero breakthroughs. Academician Su took practical actions to promote exchanges and cooperation between the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Jiangsu Province and the Urban Renewal Authority of Singapore, carried out bilateral learning, exchanges, and talent training, and participated in the "2023 Universities and Institutes into Zhenjiang Industry-University-Research Cooperation and Docking Activity" jointly organized by Zhenjiang City, making outstanding contributions to the development of the civil engineering and construction industry in Jiangsu Province. Academician Su has made outstanding contributions to Jiangsu's economic construction and social development, so he won the 2023 "Jiangsu Friendship Award".
It is reported that the "Zijin Friendship Envoy of City Internationalization" has held five consecutive selection ceremonies, and the foreign friends who have been hired have actively participated in the international cooperation and exchange activities in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, and humanities held by Nanjing, and have contributed to the promotion of Nanjing's open development, the expansion of friendly exchanges between China and foreign countries, and the enhancement of the city's international image.
