On the afternoon of August 30, the 85th Zhishan Civil Engineering Forum in 2024, hosted by the School of Civil Engineering, the Institute of Urban Engineering Science and Technology, and the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Basalt Fiber Production and Application Technology, and the academic report of Professor Toshiyuki Kanakubo of the University of Tsukuba, Japan, were successfully held online and offline. The forum was hosted by Professor Wang Xin of our school, and nearly 60 teachers and students participated.
The theme of this report is Recent Research on Fiber-Reinforced Cementitious Composite and Developing ISO Standards, which discusses the research progress of fiber-reinforced cementitious composite materials and the formulation of ISO standards. Professor Kanakubo actively interacted with the students present and patiently and meticulously answered the questions raised by the students. The atmosphere was warm.
After the meeting, Professor Kanakubo visited the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Basalt Fiber Production and Application Technology, Jiangsu Green Material Valley New Materials Technology Development Co., Ltd., the History Museum of the School of Civil Engineering, and our school's large earthquake simulation vibration table, and gave high praise. The accompanying visitors included Professor Dai Jianguo, Director of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering of City University of Hong Kong, and Professor Yusuke Kurihashi of Kanazawa University in Japan.
It is reported that Professor Toshiyuki Kanakubo is a professor in the Department of Engineering Mechanics and Energy of the University of Tsukuba in Japan. He mainly studies new concrete structures and structural renovation based on FRCC and FRP materials. He is a member of JCI, JSCE and AIJ, secretary of JCI/TC092A, JCI/TC104A, and JCI/TC112A technical committees, and has served as the chairman of ISO/TC71/SC6 since 2020.
