Recently, according to an official announcement from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Professor Guo Tong from SCE has been elected as a Fellow of the society (ASCE Fellow).

Professor Guo Tong is primarily engaged in teaching and researching in the field of structural multi-hazard performance assessment and enhancement. He has led more than 20 research projects, including the National Key Research and Development Program. He has been awarded the National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize (as the second principal investigator) and has spearheaded the receipt of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress First Prize, Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Progress Award First Prize, and the Gold Award at the Geneva International Invention Exhibition, among others. As a national first-class registered structural engineer and constructor, Professor Guo Tong has conducted extensive and in-depth engineering practices in areas such as building base isolation, seismic retrofitting, and structural intelligent monitoring in recent years. Currently, Professor Guo Tong serves as the Associate Editor of ASCE's two journals, “Journal of Bridge Engineering” and “Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities”, and also holds academic positions such as a member of the ASCE Engineering Accident Identification Training Committee.

It is the most influential professional organization in the field of civil engineering worldwide. Being elected as a Fellow of the society requires achieving international cutting-edge research results, possessing engineering practical abilities at the level of top professional engineers, and having a broad international academic influence.
